When parents think about saying goodbye to their kids, usually the image that comes to mind is the big goodbye of dropping them off at college. But in reality, there are many goodbyes to the way things were. Changing times when you can feel them pulling away and get hit with a wave of nostalgia for how things used to be.
In some ways that “big goodbye” is easier than the small ones because we expect it to be hard. We plan for it. The smaller goodbyes catch us off guard.
This week I share ideas about how to process all those smaller goodbyes. When they ask to go out with a friend on a holiday, or even start looking at colleges just a little too far away.
